Book Arts 101 - $75

Books aren’t just for reading anymore, they can be a work of art!

“Book Arts 101” provides a peek into the creative world of Artist Books, and traditional bookbinding, through lecture, images, and artist book examples from abstract art books to altered books to art journals.

Participants will learn to combine paper ephemera, scrapbook papers, and vintage or new everyday paper goods, to create their own simple yet fun mixed media art book. Basic bookbinding techniques and terminology will be covered in this workshop, along with collage and wax-resist art techniques.

There will be a special discussion on book structures that highlight photography, added just for 818 Community Darkroom.

All materials and supplies are provided and participants are encouraged to handle the art book samples on display.
